Portfolio Case Study: Dogs of the Dow

The Dogs of the Dow trading system is defined thus:

After the stock market closes on the last day of the year, of the 30 stocks that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Average, select the ten stocks which have the highest dividend yield. Then simply get in touch with your broker and invest an equal dollar amount in each of these ten high yield stocks. Then hold these ten "Dogs of the Dow" for one year. Repeat these steps each and every year.

We can use the portfolio trader to reproduce this strategy in tradesignal standard edition.

Step 1: First we create a portfolio containing the Dow Jones Industrial symbols

Step 2: Next we drag & drop the Portfolio Dog Picker and Portfolio Dog Trader strategies from the Toolbox onto the Portfolio. The equity curve updates to show the historic performance.

Step 3: We add a Position Manager to the Workspace and we are ready to trade
